Education & Opportunities
We are committed to providing educational opportunities for students interested in pursuing professional experiences in the life science disciplines. Our programs range from intensive on-site programs for high school students to fellowships made available in our postdoctoral research programs designed to advance NASA missions in Space Biology and Physical Sciences.
Microgravity Research
The Biological and Physical Sciences Division offers research solicitation opportunities and educational resources for scientists and researchers to learn about how they can contribute to NASA's microgravity research.
Space Biology
The main objective of Space Biology research is to build a better understanding of how spaceflight affects living systems in spacecraft such as the International Space Station (ISS), or in ground-based experiments that mimic aspects of spaceflight, and to prepare for future human exploration missions far from Earth. BPS offers several opportunities for K-12, university students, and postdoc researchers to participate and gain research experience through NASA's space biology education opportunities.
Physical Sciences
NASA’s physical sciences research is organized into six disciplines – Biophysics, Combustion Science, Complex Fluids, Fluid Physics, Fundamental Physics and Materials Science. Conducted in a nearly weightless environment, experiments in these disciplines reveal how physical systems respond to the near absence of buoyancy-driven convection, sedimentation or sagging.
