Rainfall measurements are assigned color from white, indicating no rain, to blue and red. The darkest red would be 30 centimeters of rain. This scale is superimposed over a color free map of the Southeast United States and shows the Gulf Coast of Florida in a deep shade of red, the shade intensity lessens as it stretches inland, however, the color darkens as it heads into coastal South Carolina. The remainder of pictured East Coast shows blue to light yellow coded amounts of rainfall.
