Who is NASA HEAT?
NASA Heliophysics Education Activation Team, or NASA HEAT, is comprised of scientists, engineers, and educators tasked with bringing NASA from the laboratory to learning spaces. Aimed at enhancing public understanding and engagement with heliophysics, HEAT works to develop educational resources, outreach programs, and community partnerships to increase awareness of the scientific importance of heliophysics, to inspire future scientists, and to spark breakthroughs in heliophysics.
Our Mission
NASA HEAT’s mission is to increase heliophysics literacy and deepen public understanding about NASA Science by uniting existing NASA Science Mission Directorate (SMD) assets with educators, learners of all ages, and communities across the country.
What We Do
NASA HEAT provides educational guidance and resources for educators, communicators, and learners of all ages to deepen their understanding of our Sun, its effects on Earth and the solar system.NASA HEAT creates new heliophysics resources, collects and vets legacy resources, and connects resources to classroom concepts and current NASA missions. All of NASA HEAT's resources can be accessed through the Framework for Heliophysics Education and the Heliophysics Resource Database.
