Holly Degn
Resource Management Division Director
Holly Degn serves as the Director of the Resource Management Division within NASA’s Science Mission Directorate (SMD), responsible for formulation, justification, and execution of NASA’s more than $6 billion annual Science budget.
Ms. Degn is a recognized leader in Federal budget management with over 15 years of experience managing large, multibillion-dollar portfolios of satellite development and research projects. She previously served as the budget manager of the Earth Science Division from 2012 to 2020, working directly with senior technical leaders of this portfolio to provide expert and informed advice on all budget formulation decisions and financial management, as well as program policy development. From 2017-2018, Ms. Degn succeeded in a temporary assignment as the Budget Director for NASA’s Office of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Engagement, consisting of a portfolio of four major grants programs. Prior to these assignments, she served as the budget manager for the Astrophysics Division, the Heliophysics Division, and the Mars Exploration Program at NASA Headquarters.
Ms. Degn graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelor’s degree in Physics and Education. She holds a Master’s Degree in Public Policy from The George Washington University.
